Why BBB Was Created
Many public safety professionals spend decades serving others while developing valuable leadership, communication, crisis management, discipline, and decision-making skills. Yet when retirement or career transition arrives, many are left asking: What comes next?
Badges Bridging Business was created to answer that question by serving as a resource guide for those exploring business ownership. BBB does not attempt to do the work of every business support organization. Instead, it organizes trusted resources and directs visitors to organizations that provide education, mentoring, funding guidance, certifications, networking, and business development support.

Founder of Badges Bridging Business
Meet Karl Davis
31+ years of service, now serving in a new way.
Karl Davis is a leadership coach and community advocate with more than 31 years of distinguished service in the Department of Detention Services at the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office in Tampa, Florida. Throughout his career, he supervised daily operations, mentored employees, and spent more than two decades helping develop future leaders by training academy recruits in leadership, ethics, professionalism, and service. Committed to that same next generation, he also provides college scholarships for aspiring students pursuing criminal justice degrees.
Inspired by his own transition from public service, Karl founded Badges Bridging Business (BBB) to help former public safety professionals explore business ownership with confidence. BBB is not a consulting firm or business incubator. It is a trusted resource center that connects individuals with reputable organizations, educational opportunities, and business development resources.
Karl is also the creator of Emotional Valor, an initiative focused on emotional resilience, personal growth, and purpose-driven leadership, and VolunteHerO, pronounced Volunteero, where the silent H represents Helping and the O represents Others. VolunteHerO celebrates public safety professionals and community leaders who continue serving others through volunteerism and community engagement.
Karl holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and a Master of Management. He remains active in community leadership, nonprofit service, mentoring, and professional development. His purpose is helping others build on a lifetime of service and create meaningful opportunities for the future.
